Police dock 2 over alleged damage of property, assault


The police Thursday docked two persons in a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court in
Lagos over alleged damage of  property and assault.

The defendants, Kehinde Fatai; 52 and Folashade Olamikan; 52,  of no fixed addresses, were charged with assault, wilful damage and breach of public peace.

‎The prosecutor, Sgt. Adetutu Sanusi, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on February 2 at about 10 a.m. at No 6, Okeonijo, Ijeshatedo, Surulere, Lagos.

She said the defendants unlawfully assaulted Magrete Fotress and Adelowo Bamidele by biting and beating them up, which caused them harm.

She added that the second defendant, Olamikan, damaged 32 pieces of two windowpanes, thereby causing public disturbance by their conduct.

The offences, he added, contravened sections 168, 173 and 350 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos state, 2015.

However, the defendants pleaded not guilty and the Chief Magistrate, Mrs T.O Abayomi, granted them bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties each in like sum.

Abayomi adjourned the matter until March 11 for mention. (NAN)
