PT AMAC candidate promises to improve health sector

The Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairmanship candidate of Peoples Trust (PT), one of the political parties seeking for positions in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT),  Honourable John Bawa, has promised provide suitable healthcare facilities in the area if voted into office.

He made the promise while unveiling his manifestos at the flag off of campaign on Tuesday.

He lamented the dilapidated state of some of the health centres in the council, stating that if elected he would ensure that residents of the council have improved healthcare facilities.

According to the candidate, although past and present administrations had done their best to improve on the sector, he however said it was obvious their best was not good enough for the people of AMAC.

Bawa also expressed disappointment with the previous and present administrations accusing them of not doing enough to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.

He promised to introduce such programmes that would ensure food security, improved educational and standard healthcare facilities, all of which he said would have positive impact on the life of the people.

“I have watched with keen interest and I have discovered that the people of AMAC,  who are mainly indigenes are still living in abject  poverty,  despite the wealth of the council,  which could be better utilized if the right person is at the helm of affairs.

The truth is that between 65 to 70 per cent of AMAC indigenes are farmers, but there is still hunger in the council because the farmers have not been encouraged by past administrations through good agricultural programmes to enhance their farming and boost their harvest.

“In the whole of AMAC, there is no single tractor to help in mechanized farming, no fertilizer to help our farmers grow their crops well and no extension officers that will go to the farmers to teach them modern ways of farming. When I am elected, I will ensure that I correct these lapses in the agriculture sector, in order to end the hunger in the land”, he said.
