Reject el-Rufai on Saturday, Maraya tells voters

Sheikh Halliru Maraya, a Kaduna based Islamic Scholar and former adviser on religious affairs to former Governor Ramalan Yero Monday appealed to people of Kaduna state to come on Saturday and vote for Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Alhaji Isa Ashiru Kudan.

He dismissed as baseless rumours in Kaduna state that the deputy governorship candidate of PDP, Sunday Marshal Katung is a son to Retired General Zamani Letwot who in the 90s was alleged to have assisted massively in killing Hausa Fulani Muslims during religious crisis in the state.

Maraya said Katung who was a former Commissioner for Finance and Water resources in Kaduna state is Bajju by tribe from Madakia, while General Zamani Lekwot is from Jan Kasa and Kaje by tribe. He stated that there is no connection between the two, hence the need for Kaduna electorate to go out and vote for Ashiru on the 9th of March, 2019.

He said: ‘’After all, there is no governor in the history of Kaduna state that has contributed to the downfall of Islam like Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai. Before him, Kaduna state government under previous governors used to subsidize Hajj fair and earmark budget for Ramadan feeding including allowances for Imams and same also applies to Christians. But el- Rufai, all these was stopped and fares for Hajj, Umrah and other religious activities went up.

‘’Similarly, under him, according to figures from the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), he sacked about 36 thousand workers including  teachers, civil service, health workers, VIOs, sanitation staff and what have you. In fact, during the time of our Prophet, a woman once tied an animal and refuse to feed it, similarly, refuse it to go and look for food and because of that, the prophet pronounced that the woman will go to hell fire.  For somebody to put 36,000 families out of job, he does not deserve to be re-elected.

‘’The prophet said any society that allow woman to be their leader, whether she is a Muslim or Christian, that society will never progress. Here we are in Kaduna, faced with governorship candidate who is a woman. God forbid, but if tomorrow something happen to the governor, automatically, Kaduna will governed by a woman.  As such, people should move quickly and vote the governor out to stop us from falling into this calamity.’’
