Bassa-nge youth from Ankura, in Oguma, the headquarters of Bassa local government area of Kogi state, Comrade Mohammed Sani Bako has admonished politicians and youths across the country not to take the Saturday elections as a do or die affair.
This is as he said that Nigeria is far bigger than any youth and the aspiration of any politicians contesting in the elections.
Bako, who is also a staff at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International airport Abuja gave the admonition yesterday in his office as he frowned at the recent attack on both members of APC and PDP during their campaign rally at Dei-Dei building materials market, Abuja.
According to him, campaigns for elections are supposed to be issues and idea-based and not about verbal or physical assaults.
He said: “Nigeria is our country; we must have a country after the elections. We all still have to live among ourselves when the polls have closed and elections are over. We should all respect one another, irrespective of our parties.
“This is not what we are used to as youths who are supposed to be future leaders of tomorrow. We now allow selfish politicians to be using them to cause trouble. Elections are not do or die affairs,” he said.
Bako called on Nigeria leaders to help in reducing the tension in the polity by contributing to an atmosphere of moderate and measured political conversations.
