Speakership hopeful, Dyegh, greets Muslims on Ramadan


One of the leading contenders for Speakership of the 9th House of Representatives, Hon. John Dyegh has felicitated with the Nigerian Muslim family, as they begin the month-long Ramadan fast.

A statement from the Dyegh Campaign Organisation (DCO), circulated to journalists in Abuja on Monday, said the lawmaker appealed to Nigerians to pray for peace, justice, equality and harmony in the nation noting that “Ramadan is a time for charity, reflection and sacrifice”.

The statement quoted the lawmaker as describing “Islam as a religion of peace whose adherents practice true love and religious harmony; seek mutual coexistence, and pursue positive development of human kind.

He, advised Muslims to use the opportunity of the Ramadan fast to reflect on the state of the nation and the need to unite all Nigerians irrespective of religion, political or ethnic background.

Dyegh also urged his colleagues in the House of Representatives to use the period of Ramadan to seek the wisdom of Allah in choosing visionary and development driven leaders for the Ninth National Assembly.

“I urge all Members-elect in the House of Representatives to use the opportunity presented by this Ramadan to seek the face of Allah on the leaders he wants for the National Assembly.

“May Allah accept your entire fast and bless your homes in this Holy Month and May He help us to use this Ramadan to become better legislators in the interest of our people and the nation in general”, Dyegh who represents Gboko/Tarka federal constituency of Benue state said.
