Taraba Gov procures 150 mini tractors for farmers


The Taraba State Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. David Ishaya Kassa on Monday said Governor Darius Ishaku has procured over 150 mini tractors for small hold farmers in the state.

Kassa, who stated this Jalingo, Taraba state capital during an exclusive interview with Blueprint disclosed that the mini tractors would soon be disbursed to the beneficiaries. 

He stated that the current administration since assumption of office in 2015 had done  a lot to improve the income of local farmers.

“Outside the current procurement of mini tractors, His excellency has also at different times purchased over 50, 000 metric tonnes of assorted fertilizers for sale to both dry and raining season  farmers,” he said.

He said the fertilizers were sold to farmers at government approved price.

“Even as we speak right now, Taraba has the best green house in the sub-Saharan region. 

“We export our products to so many African countrie and other parts of Nigeria,” he said.

He stated that the state government would continue to support genuine farmers to ensure that Taraba state was put in its rightful place in agricultural map of the country.
