Voting peaceful amidst large turnout in Garam

Voting in the Presidential and National Assembly is peaceful in Garam,  Tafa local government area of Niger state with large turnout of voters.

Blueprint correspondent reports that voters were on queue and in orderly manner at the three polling units, the Chief’s palace, primary school and Sabo Wuse road  while election officials resumed at about 8.00 a.m.

There was no heavy presence of security officials in the three polling units though official of the Nigeria Police Force and members of Federal Road And Safety Commission (FRSC) were visible in the three centres.

A voter, Obadiah Gata  expressed satisfaction with the early commencement of the exercise and orderly conduct of voters.

Another voter, Adebimpe Ilori however expressed her dissatisfaction over the slow process of voting in the primary school and the usual long queue associated with the exercise.

Our correspondent however observed that several of the voters are showing apathy towards the National Assembly election.

Abdullahi Mohammed disclosed that he is only interested in voting for the president .

“I’m not interested in who becomes Senator or who goes to the National Assembly. I’m here to vote for who become Mr. President”

Few shops are opened , while sachet water seller and food hawkers are making brisk business as voting progress.

So far, there has been no report of major hitches regarding the elections from across the state.
