We made 70 PHC functional – Taraba govt


The Executive Secretary, Taraba state Primary Health Care Development Agency (TPHCDA), Alhaji  Aminu Jauro Sunday said  the state government in conjunction with the world  bank has succeeded in making over  70 primary health care centers  functional in six local government areas of the state.

Jauro, who stated this in Jalingo while briefing journalists on the activities of the agency said each ward in the state, would have one functional health care centre.

“As we are all aware, Taraba state has 168 political wards. And we decided to picked two local government each from the three senatorial zones,” he said.

He stated that the local government areas that were selected from the three  senatorial zones includes: Ardo-Kola, Takum, Gassol, Wukari, Sardauna and Jalingo local governments respectively.

He said the agency is making concerted effort to provide primary health care centre to another two local government areas of the state.

“We are equally doing our best to reactivate the existing health facilities across the state” he said.

He stated that in 2018, the agency conducted four rounds of immunization in the state adding that UNICEFF provided funds worth N19 million per round.

“Even Taraba state government equally complemented to what UNICEF did as part of its counterpart fund,” he said.

He said the agency in May/June 2018, conducted what is called maternal and child week, adding that UNICEFF procured drugs and other consumables worth N28 million
