Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola Monday said President Muhammadu Buhari deserves re-election because of his commitment to the country’s infrastructural development.
Fashola, who is the Director of Planning and Election Monitoring of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council, stated this in Abuja, at the inauguration of the extended members of the committee.
According to him, the next level slogan of the party means massive investment in infrastructure, adding that the there is no state in Nigeria that was excluded from the party’s massive infrastructure campaign.
He said the achievements recorded by Buhari in less than four years surpassed what the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) recorded in its 16-year-rule.
“The focus of our part is the national development initiative and a developmental programme that leaves no state behind. In terms of road for example, the critical road that connects the south – south to the south east is the Enugu-Port Harcourt Road, which is one of the roads that we are addressing.
“Investment in infrastructure is what will define the status of Nigeria at the Next Level. That is what the next level means. All over the world, you hear nations classified as developed, developing and under-developed. One of the largest parameters for measurement of development is the quality of infrastructure that delivers the livelihood that the people see.
“What is the quality of your hospital? What is the quality of the transport network? Your road, rail and airline networks? What is the quality of your housing?
“What is the maintenance regime? That is why we are committing to maintenance now to raise quality of asset and to also provide work for people at the base of the pyramid.
“We have tried to be equitable and best as our choices can fill. For example with Sukuk, we divided the allocation equally but there are more projects at this time in some states than the other but nobody has been left behind’’, Fashola said.
He, however, urged members of the committee to intensify the mobilisation of voters towards party’s victory on February 16 and March 2, charging them notto leave no stone unturned in the education of the electorate on the achievements of the federal government ahead of the presidential and the national assembly elections.
