When the news broke that Mele Kyari officially took over as the 19th NNPC GMD, precisely on July 8, 2019, I knew that the Borno-born geologist, a serious-minded personality with the technical know-how to move the organisation forward, had emerged. He has all it takes to change the narrative – more production and increase in revenue for our country.

Promisingly, when this administration came on board, with the promise that it would revamp our refineries, Mele Kyari, who’s carrying a badge of valour, has made it possible, as of now work has already commenced in Port Harcourt refinery, โ€œwith optimism it would work optimally for the next 15 years after the rehabilitationโ€.

However, it was at the instance of Mr. President, the year was tagged Gasoline, which can only be actualised with the aid of total rehabilitation of critical infrastructure, especially in hydrocarbon, in the end, we will see production which would in turn attract more revenue to the country.

Continuation of searching hydrocarbon in Kolmani 11 is one of the great achievements of the GMD, we would continue to be grateful for this giant stride in this sector.

Projectively, the ongoing Ajaokuta- Kaduna- Kano gas project is something to write home about, which would generate more electricity, massive employment for our teeming youths in line with the federal governmentโ€™s mantra to take them off the streets, which will reduce the insecurity that retards development.

Nevertheless, I doubt if there’s anyone more interesting, not just on paper but, practically in adding value to the nation’s hydrocarbon resources for the benefit of all Nigerians than Mele Kyari. However, he has more emphasis to deliver on the promise made by President Buhari, to leave a legacy that the unborn generation will benefit from. Certainly, the revamping of the nationโ€™s refineries is a major factor, which is surely on course.

Kyari NNPC GMD and his team need our collective support and prayers to succeed for the benefit of our country. Certainly, his two years of stewardship is a blessing to Africa’s most populous nation.
