10 escape death as fuel tanker catches fire in Oyo

A filing station manager and nine others, Monday, escaped death in Iseyin town, Oyo state when a tanker said to offloading fuel caught fire at a filing station.

Blueprint gathered that others that escaped death included fuel attendants, and the driver of the tanker that was offloading.

According to an eye witness account, there was a spark after which the tanker caught fire and the station located along Iseyin- Saki road in Iseyin was razed.

The witness who didn’t mention his said all efforts by the tanker driver, the petrol attendants and the customers queueing for fuel to stop the inferno failed as the flames from the burnt tanker suddenly enveloped the whole area forcing them to flee for safety 

He said the smoke from the fire trapped some of the people trying to put off the fire before they were rescued by others at the scene.

The early arrival of men of the Oyo state Fire Service saved the situation from getting out of hand as the fire brigade men succeeded in putting it off.
