11 FCT schools students undergo road safety training at Baze varsity 

 

A non-governmental organisation, Automobile and Touring Club of Nigeria (ATCN), has trained about 500 students from 11 schools in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja on safe use of roads.

The programme was organised at the Baze University Abuja with the support of The Federation International de l’Automobile (FIA).

The event, which took place from May 25-26, 2022, had resource persons drawn from the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Red Cross, among others.

The training event was under FIA’s school assessment programme known as SR4 and the students were taught on safety awareness particularly how to identify and safely cross the roads to and from schools.

The students also learnt practical lessons on how to administer first aid treatments to crash victims and those who won quiz went home with different prizes.

The NGO has also organised various campaigns on road safety in the following in Ebonyi, Ekiti, Lagos, Kaduna, Niger, Nasarawa states and of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

President of ATCN, Mr. Ishaku Bamayi, in his welcome speech stated that, “The Automobile and Touring Club of Nigeria was registered in June, 2009, with the aims and objectives on campaigning for road safety, creating awareness on environmental matters, health services etc.”
