13m Nigerian children out of school – Hagher

PresiDential aspirant under the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Prof. Iyorwuese Hagher has disclosed that about 13 million children of school age are out of school in Nigeria.
Hagher who was once an Ambassador to Canada and Mexico made the disclosure yesterday in Makurdi when he presented his Presidential Expression of Interest Form to the Benue executive members of the party yesterday.
He stated further that such a huge number of out of school children is embarrassing and a shame to the country.
He said that he would declare free education for both primary and post primary schools to enable even indigent children to acquire western education if elected in 2019.
He also promised to make the Nigerian universities among the best in the world so as to churn out quality graduates that could be used for the transformation of the country.
He said: “I will empower women so as to stand shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts, and give equal number of appointment to both men and women.
The import is aimed at encouraging women to participate fully in governance and, as well as contribute their quota to the development of the country.
I will ensure that the country’s values are revived so that corruption will be relegated to the background if not completely erased,” he said.
He commended the state executive members of the party for their doggedness and resilience, stressing that with them on board the party would win majority of the positions during the 2019 general elections.
Responding, the state party chairman, Dr John Enemari, said that Hagher was a true democrat because he registered as a member of the party in his ward and not in Abuja.
He assured the aspirant of overwhelming victory during the 2019 general elections because of his impeccable character and proven track record.
