14 parties to participate in Saturday bye election in Bakura LG state constituency in Zamfara

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Zamfara state has said, 14 political parties have been screened by the Commission to participate in the upcoming state Assembly seat bye election scheduled to hold on 5th December.

The election followed the death of the Hon. Member Alhaji Tukur Jakada Birnin Tudu early this Year who represented Bakura Local Government Council at state House of Assembly.

This was made known by the State Commissioner of the INEC, Dr. Asamau Sani Maikudi while addressing Journalists over the preparedness of her commission to conduct the election to be carried out next Saturday.

Maikudi stated that the commission had adequately prepared for the conduct of the election, urging the staff and adhoc staff and electorates to comply with COVID-19 guiding principles by ensuring social distancing and use their facemask during the exercise.

“It is mandatory for both our adhoc staff and electorates to wear their facemask during the exercise for their safety and warned that facemask must not have any political party logo but ordinary one”. Maikudi stated.

According to her, the Bakura Constituency has 92,697 registered voters, 10 registration areas, 114 polling units, 9 voting points respectively.

The political parties to participate in the election according to her includes, A, AA, AAC, ADC, ADP, APGA, APC, APM, APP, L.P, NRM, NNPP, PDP and SDP respectively.

She urged the security agencies to provide adequate security during the exercise in the area in order to enable INEC conduct a hitch free and fair election as promised to the commission recently.
