$150, 000 IAAF cash: Ogba, others jittery as AFN launches probe

There is palpable fear in the camp of former board members of Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), led then by Solomon Ogba over alleged embezzled $150, 000 from International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF), barely one year ago.

Already, Nigeria’s House of Representatives has resolved to cause an investigation of the controversial dollars over paid by IAAF to the Athletic Federation of Nigeria (AFN) which has become a scandal.

The Green Chambers also resolved to summon the AFN, Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Barrister Solomon Dalung and Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) officials.

However, the current board of AFN has vowed to get to the root of the matter after their newly set-up probe panel concluded findings.
Still keeping the findings out of the public, AFN President, Ibrahim Gusau hinted that since Lawmakers have waded into the issue, the federation will stay action on further actions.

Gusau who spoke to Blueprint weekend Sports yesterday, remarked; “I believe it’s still under investigation. I was told that the House of Representatives which I was part of before. I will rather wait for their investigation.

“Already, we have been to carry out our own investigation at the federation. And we were able to track the funds, both locally and internationally…”
