Twenty Professional football sides have registered to play in this year’s Ahlan football competiton which will kicks off in Kano on October 6th.
Sponsor of the competition Mallam Ahlan Sheriff said the only 16 teams out of the 20 that have signified their intention to play will partcipate.
He said the competition will give the teams the opportunity to identify their weaknesses and proffer solutions to them before the kick off of the Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL.
Ahlan said teams can also use the opportunity to sign additional players for the incoming NPFL season.
He said for the first time since its inception three years ago, cash prizes and trophies will be given to the winner and runners up as part of motivation.
Stakeholders like Issac Danladi and Salihu Abubakar will serve as Chairman and Secretary of the championship with the closing ceremony fixed for October 15.
