Obasanjo is ‘least Nigerian’ to talk about morality – Kalu

A former governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, has described Obasanjo as the ‘least Nigerian’ to talk about morality in Nigeria politics.

He stated this in Ile-Ife, Osun State, when speaking at the palace of Ooni during his advocacy tour to the Southwest, on Friday.
He said his tour to the region was to correct peoples perception about President Muhammadu Buhari as being painted by some leaders in Nigeria.
Commending Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, for preaching peace and taking peace across the nation, Kalu condemned some leaders who he said are only good in writing letters to cause problems.
“Even some leaders have decided to be letter writers, I want to thank you for obeying what the Quran and the Bible said. I want to thank you for supporting our president.
“I want to thank you for bringing peace. No leader is perfect. Every leaders has his patch. Some leaders like to criticize people but, when they were there as a leader, they didn’t want people to criticize them. They didn’t know that it is always good for leaders to have respect for other leaders.
He disclosed that his foundation would partner with the Hopes Alive Initiatives of Oba Ogunwusi to put smile on the faces of over 2,000 petty traders in Ile-Ife, noting that his foundation has paid WAEC fee for over 50,000 students and also provided 5,000 scholarship to students in secondary and tertiary institutions.
Speaking with journalists, he said Ibo presidency is possible after Buhari might have completed his two terms, but with the support of all Nigerians.
“We realise that the country is almost broken. We are taking message of hope and peace to the people.
“You can see some ex-president want to take it upon themselves to start causing problems, writing letters that are unnecessary to our community and our polity. This is the same president I wrote letter to when I was the governor and he refused to answer to the letter.
“You press people know about that letter where I accused president Obasanjo on many occasions of corruption under his table which he know is the truth. So, he is the least Nigerian to talk about morality in our polity.
Speaking on Ibo presidency, he said “when we get to that bridge, we would cross it. It is a committed project. It is possible if other Nigerians agree. Ibo alone can not make themselves president. It has to be a united effort. MKO Abiola said it when he came to visit my mother that Ibo has to learn how to clap with two hands. We need all Nigerians to make Ibo man president visible. After Buhari has done his two terms, it is possible that an Ibo man become president.
Speaking on the possibility of president Buhari winning the second term, Kalu said, “Buhari has done a lot of jobs. People might be thinking he is not doing anything, Nigeria is a very difficult country to hold together and he held it together.
“President Buhari is not a thief. The whole place were looted before he came. I’m not saying Buhari is the best Messiah, he has his own patch, but the Buhari I know for over 30 years, he doesn’t believe in having house in Abuja and cars everywhere.
“I came to assure this region that president Buhari is an honest man. He is more committed to the Nigeria progress.
