19 bandits informants arrested in Niger

Nineteen suspected agents of bandits have been arrested by men of the vigilantes in Munya and Shiroro local governments of Niger state.


It was learnt that five of the informants made up of two brothers of the same father and the other three, fulani herdsmen were apprehended at Chiri village in the Shiroro local government of the state while the remaining 14 informants were arrested at Fuka in Munya local government.

They were said to have been assisting bandits with information about the movements of security operatives as well as areas to be attacked.

It was gathered that the suspects have been handed over to the Police in Minna for investigation.


When contacted, the Niger state Police Command Public Relations Officer DSP confirmed the arrest of some informants but didn’t disclose the number of arrest.

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello had said at a recent meeting at government house that there were moles in the security set up of the state and that these moles gave out information about governments plans to apprehend bandits to the insurgents.
