19 teams jostle for promotion to volleyball top Leagues

As the finals of the Division 1 League kicked off in Kaduna on Friday, six male and six female volleyball teams will lock horns for the four tickets to the Premier League.

Similarly, seven male volleyball teams in Division 2 will battle it out for promotion to the Division 1 category.

The finals taking place at the Gymnasium Hall of the Ahmadu Bello Stadium Kaduna, features eight matches daily till its climax on October 29th, 2022.

The Technical Director, Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) Mr Martins Melandi, who made this known following a technical meeting with coaches of the various teams, said two teams will secure promotion from the Division 1 to Premier League while two teams will be demoted from Division 1 to Division 2.

He added that two teams from the Division 2 will gain promotion to Division 1 at the end of the volleyball finals.

The Technical Director gave the names of the participating male teams in the Division 1 as Caliphate Spikers, JVC Bauchi, Usem Enugu, Katsina Volleyball Club, Nigeria Immigration Service and Spartans of Yola. The male teams for the Division 2 are Adamawa, Chief of Naval Staff, Plateau Rocks, G-Rank Spikers, Bayonets, Taraba and Benue Swords.

The female teams playing in the Division 1 category, include Bayonet Spikers Kaduna, Yelwa Volleyball Club Bauchi, Chief of Naval Staff, Olalomi Super Angels Offa, Kwara state, Anambra Angels and Life Camp, Abuja.
