2 in court for ‘beating’ colleague to death

The Police in Lagos state have dragged two men: Suleiman Kabiru, 30; and Shuaibu Gambo, 20; before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly beating one of their colleague to death.
The accused are facing charges bordering on conspiracy and murder. Police Prosecutor, Inspector Julius Babatope, told the court that the accused committed the off ences on February 27, 2018, at 10pm at Elewa Junction in Ikorodu in Lagos. Babatope, who said the duo had pounced on one Ibrahim Kabiru, 28; and beat him to death with planks and iron rods, noted that that the off ence violates Sections 224 and 233 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. The Magistrate, Mrs O.A. Adegite, ordered the accused to be remanded in prison custody and directed that the case fi le should be duplicated and a copy sent to the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice. The case was adjourned till May 10 for DPP’s advice.
