2 district heads suspended in Zamfara

As part of its measures to end armed banditry, Zamfara state government   has announced the immediate suspension of two district heads in Maradun and Birnin Magaji local government areas for given permission to buy and sell petrol in their domains through black market.

This was made known by the commissioner for local governments and chieftaincy affairs, Hon. Bello Dankande Gamji at a press conference in his office yesterday.

According to him, the suspension became imperative considering the fact that, the two district heads had violated the recent order given by the state government for banning petroleum black market across the state.

“The action by the two district heads had gingered immensely the wanton activities of these dreaded gangs of armed bandits within their domains,” he said.

He also charged the two district heads to as a matter of urgency report themselves to police or face the wrath of the law.

“The two affected district heads would face investigation for allowing the use of jerry cans in the purchase and sales of petrol which paved ways to bandits to have the resources easily,” he said.

Alhaji Bello Dankande has blamed the police in Zone 10, in aiding cattle rustling in the state, as Civilian JTF apprehended 700 cattle, while lamenting how the police in the zone were allegedly issuing

letters to the rustlers as a permit for unchecked movement of the cattle.
