2 Minna college of education graduates die in canoe accident

Two graduates of the College of Education, Minna have reported died after their canoe capsized in a river while returning from their flooded rice farmlands at Bina in Lapai local government of Niger state.
The incident was said to have occurred yesterday afternoon around 12 pm The dead were identified as Suleiman Ibrahim, aged 25 and Tanko Abako Hassan aged, 23 all from Bina village.
Reports revealed that the two deceased boarded a canoe across the river to go and see the degree of impact of the flood that had submerged their rice farms when the incident occurred.
It was gathered that a Fulani woman who saw when and how the incident happened however rushed and told the villagers where it occurred.
Divers deployed to the scene of the incident are reported to have found the canoe while they were still searching for the body of the victims.
Investigation further revealed that almost all the village rice farm is currently under water and the impact is now tremendous since the opening of the dams in the state.
When contacted, Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) public relations officer, Ibrahim Audu Hussaini said that the agency was yet to get the information.
