2 nabbed for snatching motorcycle at gun point in Ogun

Operatives of Ogun state Police command on May 10, 2021 arrested two members of robbery syndicate, who specialise in snatching motorcycles in Sango Ota area of the state.

The arrest was contained in a press statement issued Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi and made available to Blueprint in Abeokuta.

The two suspects, Abiodun Ogundele and Opeyemi Olatubosun,  Oyeyemi said,were arrested following a distress call received at Sango Divisional Headquarters at about 8pm that one Adesoji David, a motorcyclist is been attacked at Joju area of Sango Ota by armed hoodlums. 

Upon the distress call, the DPO Sango Ota, CSP Godwin Idehai, quickly mobilised his men and moved to the scene. 

On sighting the policemen, the suspects, who had already snatched the victim’s Bajaj motorcycle, took to flight, but were hotly chased, and two amongst them were arrested, while the other one escaped.

Items recovered from them included one locally made pistol, one live cartridge, one expended cartridge and the snatched motorcycle.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Awolowo Ajogun, ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation. 

He also directed that the fleeing member of the gang be hunted for and brought to book as soon as possible.
