Two notorious kidnappers terrorising Kaduna, Zamfara and Sokoto states were weekend arrested in Kamba, a border town between Nigeria and Niger Republic.
Kamba is the headquarters of Dandi local government area of Kebbi state.
The arrest was made by the operatives of the Directorate of State Security (DSS) from Abuja after trailing the suspects to Kamba. Some valuable items in their possession were also recovered.
Confirming the arrest to newsmen in Kamba, the secretary of Dandi local government, Alhaji Sale Zaria Kalakala said the two suspects of Nigerian extraction were apprehended while trying to escape to Niger Republic.
He stated further that Kamba town, been a border area, is usually the escape route for criminals.
“We thank our traditional leaders in the area. They always report suspicious movements and actions within their domains for necessary actions. There is a riverine place called Dolekaina where they use as an exist route. But now, security have been beefed up by our able Nigerian police and other security agencies to curtail the menace,” he said.
He commended the efforts of the Kebbi state government for supporting the security agencies and vigilantes attached to the area.
Kalakala appealed to the federal government to establish a military base around the Dolekaina River where the bandits used to navigate away from the country.
In a related development, the overseer of Aliero local government area of Kebbi state, Alhaji Kabiru Yakubu Mai’arewa, has applauded Governor Atiku Abubakar Bagudu led administration for resolving all crises between Fulani herdsmen and farmers in the area adding that people now live in peace with each other.
