2 perish in Kaduna-Abuja road mishap

Two persons were killed yesterday along Kaduna-Abuja expressway in the afternoon, following an automobile accident, officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said in a statement.
North-west zone Area Office of NEMA, according to the statement, was on surveillance at the Kaduna-Abuja highway when the incident occurred, after which they were evacuated to the St. Gerard Catholic Hospital, Kakuri, Kaduna.

The statement said: “The accident which claimed two lives occurred at about 12:47pm not far from the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Black Gold KM 13 Kaduna-Abuja Expressway, Kaduna. The dead bodies, one male and a female, have already been deposited at the hospital’s morgue by men of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) carried the operation alongside the agency’s staff.

“However, the other four injured victims were also taken to the hospital inside NEMA’s Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) Ambulance stationed at the tollgate for emergency response. The car, a Volkswagen Sharon, was driven from Abuja to Kaduna this noon. Six passengers on board were affected in which two lost their lives while the other four sustained injuries.”
