2 SMEDAN staff die in one week

The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria SMEDAN has lost two of its staff to the cold hands of death within a span of one week.

A statement from the Corporate Affairs Unit of the agency made available to Blueprint on Sunday, named the staff as Engr. Mohammed Abdullahi, a principal Engineer with the Gombe State office of the agency, aged 42; he died on the 12th of July as a result of ghastly motor accident in Gombe town.

While Mallam Ahmed Mubarak Umar, an Assistant Chief Accountant, aged 43, died on Wednesday 17th July after a brief illness in Abuja. Both staff have since been buried according to Islamic injunctions in Gombe and Abuja respectively.

The director general and Chief Executive Officer of SMEDAN, Dr Dikko Umaru Radda, however described the   death of the two staff as painful and a great loss not only to their families but the entire agency.

In a condolence message to the families of the deceased, he prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the souls of the departed colleagues’ eternal rest and the families the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Dr. Radda said the agency will surely miss the two departed colleagues for their selfless service and commitment towards the actualisation of its mandate.
