…20 killed in Yobe

Unknown gunmen suspected to be armed bandits on Monday night launched an attack in a market in Yobe state killing 18 people.
A lecturer at the Collage of Agriculture, Gujba, Yobe state, who was returning from Asaka town in Gombe state, was also shot dead by the fleeing gunmen at Buni Gari town.
The yobe state Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Sanusi Rufai, confirmed that the 18 traders were killed by  the gunmen in two villages of Gulani local government area of Yobe state.
The Yobe police boss, in a chat with our correspondent, said “the traders were ambushed by the gunmen while returning back from Ngalda local market in Gulani LGA.”
He said: “The bandits attacked them and killed 18 traders. 10 of the traders are from Kukuwa town located along Kari-Potiskum road and eight of the traders are from Dokshi village. The gunmen took away their money estimated at millions of naira. The bandits/robbers were masked and wearing army uniforms.”
Alhaji Sanusi explained also that the attackers also run into a quarry and attacked  policemen attached to a quarry plant in the area also killed one policeman.
The CP, who said no arrest was made, noted that the “Joint Task force (JTF) and policemen are now combing the bush and, security agents across the state were on red alert.”
The commissioner regretted that “bandits/robbers are now parading themselves as Boko Haram to wreck havoc on innocent people and inject fears in them.”
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Yobe state Council of Emirs and Chiefs, Alhaji Mohammed Idrissa Abale, the Emir of Fika, on Monday condemned the attack on the innocent traders.
