200 women trained on skills acquisition by lawmaker


The first batch of 200 women and youth trained in various skills of entrepreneurship by a member of the plateau state House of Assembly, Ibrahim Baba Hassan, graduated after one month of intensive training.

 The purpose of the training was to ensure self reliance by women and youth.  Hassan who is representing Jos North local government area of Plateau state said they are experts in making soap, pomade, perfumes, shoe making and make-up.   

He had last week carried out medical outreach that tested and treated dozens of women, men and children of various illnesses. He also paid for the registration of  200 students to seat for the forthcoming  Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB), examination.

Speaker of the House of Assembly, Jushua Madaki, commended the efforts of his colleague and launched some of the products manufactured. He launched it with the sum of N50, 000.

He said the gesture of the lawmaker is in the right direction to ensure greater development and poverty eradication. He said, “countries the world over are developing because of skill acquisition and small and medium scale entrepreneurship.”

He tasked graduates to adopt entrepreneurship as a means of self employment.

Hassan urged the beneficiaries of the programme to utilise the opportunity and put into real practice their entrepreneurship expertise so that they can be self reliant.
