Ahead the 2015 general elections, two foremost political giants, Chief Olu Falae and Alhaji Balarabe Musa, have concluded arrangements to formally launch a new political alliance formed by the elder statesmen to challenge the dominance of the political space by the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Alliance (APC).
They would be joined by many opposition politicians on Thursday, 16th October, 2014 for the presentation of the Credible Alternative Alliance to the public at a World Press Conference scheduled to hold in Abuja, according to the group’s National

Coordinator, Dr. Damian Uzoma Ogbonnia, in an interview.
Ogbonnia, who is also the National Chairman of the Peoples Progressive Party (PPP), said the founding fathers would use the gathering to explain why Credible Alternative Alliance was established by several opposition political parties, associations, civil society groups and individuals and how the alliance can help the founders wrest power from established political parties in the next general election.

He said that CAA would prove that it was a viable alternative to the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Alliance (APC) and the answer to the yearnings of Nigerians for better governance and increased development.
He said: “We coalesced into a democratic and electoral alliance to contest, support and further the interests of credible and patriotic candidates for the 2015 presidential, gubernatorial and legislative elections and other future elections to further the cause of democracy, justice and the unity of Nigeria.”

He also disclosed that the alliance was formed at the instance of several elder statesmen such as Chief Olu Falae, Chief Segun Osoba, Alhaji Balarabe Musa, Air Vice Marshal Mouktar Mohammed (rtd), amongst others to chart a new course for the nation and provide a viable option to “the failed government of the elites as represented by PDP and APC,” the two dominant political parties in the country.”
“The core reasons of forming the alliance include using the platform to further the cause of democracy, justice and unity of Nigeria. We are political parties and associations that are not in merger relationship with other political parties but we are maintaining separate existence and are desirous of constituting a united front, which is patriotic and democratic. These are the primary driving force of the Alliance.”
