2015: Group seeks automatic ticket for Jonathan

A group, National Coalition for Jonathan/Sambo Presidency, has canvassed for automatic ticket for President Goodluck Jonathan to run in 2015.
Its secretary, Benjamin Irikefe, while presenting the group’s position to PDP National Secretary, Prof. Wale Oladipo, called on the party Board of Trustees (BoT) and the National Executive Committee (NEC) to convene separate emergency meetings of the two organs and passed resolutions adopting the incumbent president as its candidate for 2015 presidency.

It said: “After a meticulous x-ray of the monumental works and achievements, the dexterity with which President Goodluck Jonathan has piloted the affairs of our country and taking a cue from the Presidential system of government of the United States from where we copied ours, we want to unequivocally call on you to convene an emergency meeting of the National Executive Committee, (NEC) and National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP and take a unanimous decision to grant President Jonathan a waiver or an automatic ticket to contest the Presidential election come 2015, whenever he declares his intention to contest the 2015 presidential election.

“Our irrevocable decision to call on the leadership of the PDP to grant this automatic ticket to Mr President is also premised on the fact that we genuinely believe and the records are conspicuously there for all to see that there is no alternative to President Jonathan till 2015, he has the proven capacity and track records to prevent Nigeria from chaos, disintegration and monumental ruins.”

National secretary of the party, Prof. Wale Oladipo, who received the delegation on behalf of the national chairman, Adamu Mu’azu, assured that the party’s leadership would convene their message to all the statutory organs of the PDP.
He said: “I thank you for the support for the leader of the party, Dr Goodluck Jonathan. Your message is very clear and we shall communicate to the PDP Board of Trustees and all other organs of the party.”
