2015: IPAC inaugurates committee in FCT

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) wing of Inter Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) has set up a seven-person committee to steer its affairs for the next one year.

The committee, which was inaugurated yesterday by head of legal department, FCT headquarters of INEC, Mrs. Anuli Taju, was elected by 14 political parties who were present at the venue.

The newly elected Chairman of IPAC in FCT, Mr. Anyaegbunam Okoye, of All Progressive Ground Alliance (APGA), said the committee aimed at working in synergy with INEC in order to increase voting power in the FCT.

“We are going to enhance good internal democracy among member parties and ensure prudent financing of political parties,” Okoye said.

Similarly, Mr. Adejobi Peter, of Labour Party (LP) who was elected as the secretary of the Committee also said “this committee will ensure peaceful coexistence of all political parties in FCT.

“We will ensure those electorates have confidence in political parties in FCT because every party will see the need to operate within the constitution at all times.”

Other members of the committee were Deputy Chairman, Mrs. Saudat Yahaya(NCP), Secretary, A. James(AA), while Chief Harry Ude (UPP) elected treasurer and Mr. Bitrus Tanko (PDP) emerged as the Financial Secretary.
Other political parties present at the event included, APC, AP, PDM, MPPP, PPA, SDP  and UDP.

The event was also witnessed by Mrs. Chinwe Onwuha who represented IPAC Chairman, Dr. Yunusa Tanko as well as some staff of INEC in FCT.
It will be recalled that IPAC is made up of 25 political parties that had the recognition of INEC.
