2015: Jonathan may declare in May – Shinkafi

There are indications that President Goodluck Jonathan may declare his intention to run for the second term in office by May.
A former governor of Zamfara state and chairman of the National Coalition for Jonathan/Sambo Presidency, Alhaji Mahmud Aliyu Shinkafi, who disclosed this yesterday while receiving a group, Niger Delta PDP Youth Movement, in his residence in Abuja, said the president’s campaign team would “immediately move out.”

Shinkafi, who said Nigerians wanted the president to continue “because of his performance,” stressed that his coalition would rely on support groups to reach out to Nigerians to vote for the president for a second term.
He said: “I am sure by the time the president declare this May, activities is going to start earnestly, I am sure by the time he declares, he is just going to be thanking his supporters who are over 80 per cent because Nigerians have realised the need for continuity of good leader who have manifested good governing skills.

“After the declaration all the leaders of the coalitions will meet to organise how the campaign is going to be, since the party is not having a campaign organisation, we will relay on support groups all over the country, they would be good for campaign.”
Earlier, deputy president of the group, Barrister Alwell Ezebunwo, said the movement came together “because of the urge for good governance, continuity and to ensure that Nigeria, as an entity, has peace and security.”
“We are in dear need of good governance and with our membership drive standing at 9, 000 is a deliberate effort to ensure that come 2015 Niger Delta youth will be at the forefront of the Jonathan’s campaign,” he said.
