Adamawa state Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Dr. Salihu Bakari, has denied that there was a rift between him and the eldest son of the governor, Commander Abdulaziz Nyako, over the governorship ticket of the APC in 2015.
He made the denial in an interview with journalists in Yola, saying that there was no rift in Nyako’s family, adding that only God could decide his fate as his only ambition “for now is to ensure the success of this government and victory of the APC in 2015.”
He said: “I do not have any rift with Sarkin Matasa under whatever
circumstances what people need to understand is that we are two brothers whose behaviors will be controlled forever by one man that is the governor. I have never discussed the issue of governorship with anybody, including the governor up to this time that am talking to you.
I did not even ponder over it my only ambition is to ensure that this government succeed and only God can decide my fate. If the time comes the leadership of the party and other stakeholders will take a decision and whoever emerged through a democratic process we will support him.”
He said Adamawa APC “is not at war with itself and the party is not under any threat,” adding that the little hitches witnessed in the ongoing congresses of the party were normal since people were bound to make complaints, stressing that that all issues had already been addressed.
