2015: SSG, 5 others resign over Imoke’s seat

Secretary to the Government of Cross River state, Mr Mike Aniah, and five members of the State Executive Council have resigned over the 2015 governorship contest which the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had zoned to the Northern part of the state.

It could be recalled that Governor Liyel Imoke had insisted that members of his Executive Council wishing to step into his shoes or contest for any elective office should resign before October 19, 2014.

To this end, Mr Gerald Ada, the Special Adviser to the Governor Investment Promotion/Trade and Business Development; Mr Legor Idagbo, the Commissioner for Works; Mr Peter Oti, the Special Adviser on Budget and Acting Chairman, Internal Revenue Service, Mr Peter Ojei, the Commissioner for Local Government and Mr Patrick Ugbe, the Commissioner for Youths and Sports also tendered their resignation at the weekend.

Others who also resigned though not for governorship race included Mr Alex Egbuna, Chief of Staff to the Governor; Mr Eddy Temple, Special Adviser on Strategic Planning, and Mr Tom Ogar, Special Adviser I C T.
Mr Eddy Temle is running for the House of Representatives for Etung Obubra Federal Constituency while Tom Ogar and Egbuna are said to be running for the Bekwara/ Obudu/ Obanlikwu and Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituencies seats respectively.
Investigations indicated that with the resignation, the Northern Senatorial District of the state has no representation in the State Executive Council either as Commissioner or Special Adviser.
