2015: Youths threaten to hold Jonathan hostage over undeclared ambition

Reminiscent of the Youth Earnestly Ask for Abacha (YEAA) of the military era, a political group, Ethnic Youth Leaders for Peace, EYLPN, is mounting pressure on President Goodluck Jonathan to declare his interest to contest the 2015 presidential election or risk being held hostage at the Aso Rock Villa that would deny him access to his office for one week.

The group, which issued the threat yesterday at a press conference in Abuja, said it would mobilise 100 million youths from the ethnic nationalities of the country to converge in Abuja and block the president from going to work.

National President of the group, Comrade Edede Franklyne, who said this, warned people whom he described as political detractors and anti-Nigerian development to stop criticising the president.
It said: “We will block his office. If we block his office and prevent him from going to work for one week, he will be compelled to declare his interest to contest for the Presidency in 2015.

“These loud mouths and pretenders-to-the-throne should stop overheating the polity henceforth or be compelled to do so.”
He said the Jonathan administration had proved its capacity to develop Nigeria in sectors of the economy more than any other in the recent history of the country.
“Our power and energy sectors have continued to improve to support the nation’s industry and to power the nation’s economy, without which we cannot talk of meaningful development.
