2018/2019 academic session: UNIBEN matriculates 11,772 students

Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin (Uniben), Prof. Faraday Orumwense, weekend disclosed that the accredition of more courses in the institution has created enough room to accommodate more students.

To this end, Orumwense said the National Universities Commission (NUC) has also expanded the admission quota of the school.
The VC stated this during the 2018/2019 Matriculation Ceremony of the institution held at Ugbowo Campus. 
He revealed that the University received over 75, 000 applications for the 2018/2019 academic while 11,772 were given provisional admissions. 

According to him, “University of Benin is a highly-rated institution in the entire sub-Saharan Africa, which has since earned the nickname “UNIBEST”.
Orumwense while admonishing the matriculants to shun vices including cultism, prostitution, encouraged them to make use of the facilities provided by the ivory tower.
He also charged the students to remain focus in their academic pursuit and shun examination malpractices as well as strive for excellence.
Matriculation Ceremony is an integral part and important tradition in the University.
