2018 Winter Olympics: Nigerian race average time of 174.11s in Bobsled

The Nigerian Bobsled team averaged a time of 174.11s in four Women’s Official Training Heats at the ongoing 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.
Seun Adigun, Akuoma Omeoga and Ngozi Onwumere were at Pyeongchang 2018 as the first athletes to represent Nigeria at the Winter Olympics-along with Skeleton star Simidele Adeagbo.
Without Onwumere, Adigun (driver) and Omeoga (brakeman) went to ice at the Pyeongchang Games in the four Official Women’s Training Heats races at the Olympic Sliding Centre.
Heat 1 and 2 races held on on Saturday, February 17 while Heat 3 and 4 held on Sunday, February 18.
In Heat 1, the Nigerian team finished in 19th place in a 19-woman race in a time of 54.18s.
With a start order and bib number of 12, the Nigerian finished behind the winner in a time of 3.07s.
They were 13th after the start in a time of 5.67s and maintained 19th position after Split 1 (15.67) Split 2 (24.89) Split 3 (35.70) Split 4 (42.54) and Finish (54.18).
For Heat 2, Nigeria finished in 19th place in a time of 53.49s in the 19-woman race. They finished behind the winner with a time of 2.23.
They were 11th after the Start with a time of 5.66s and fell to 13th after Split 1 with a time of 15.58.
They were in 16th position after Split 2 with a time of 24.65s and fell further to 19th place after Split 3 with a time of 35.18s.
They maintained the 19th place for Split 4 (41.90s) and finish (53.49s). Team Canada won this heat.
With a Start Order of 9 and Bib No. 12, Nigeria also finished 20th position in Heat 3 which was now a 20-woman race.
They finished with a time of 52.96s and were behind the winners-Team USA with 2.06s.
They were 12th after the Start with a time of 5.64s and fell to 15th after Split 1 with a time of 15.54s.
After Split 2, they were 18th with a time of 24.60s and fell further to 20th at the end of SPlit 3 with a time of 35.11s.
They maintained 20th after Split 4 (41.70s) and finish (52.96).
In Heat 4 that was won by Team Germany, Nigeria finished 20th in the 20-woman race with a time of 53.60s. They were 2.35s behind the winners.
With Start Order of 9 and Bib No. 12, Nigeria finished the Start in 16th place with a time of 5.70s. They fell to 18th after Split 1 with a time of 15.66s and were 20th after Split 2 with a time of 24.91s.
They ended in 20th position after Split 3 with a time of 35.58s and were in this position after Split 4 (42.27s) and Finish (53.60s).
These results are however insignificant in the race for the medals as the official competition starts on Tuesday, February 20.
