2019, Atiku/Obasanjo and other matters

I am not surprised with the recent statement credited to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, that he will never support Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s ambition of becoming president and that God will not forgive him if he does that.
Well, one thing for sure is the fact, that I am not Atiku’s spokesperson, that can hold brief for him, but as a concerned citizen of Adamawa state and a Nigerian, I write in order to set the record straight and at the time, dissect Obasanjo.
Obasanjo is someone who wants to be heard and reckoned at all times.
His romance with who got the ticket of the PDP is a misnomer having torn his membership card of the party in the full glare of the public.
One thing for sure is the fact, is if God destines Atiku, former vicepresident, to become President that thousands of Obasanjos cannot stop it.
There is nothing that Obasanjo can do to truncate the political ambition of the former vice president, who has already emboldened his name as a quintessential and erudite politician, who has built bridges across the cultural and religious divides of this great country.
In fact, it is worth mentioning here, that Atiku is behind the incursion of Obasanjo into politics in 1999.
Atiku is a formidable political juggernaut, that does not need introduction and induction in the art of politics for the fact, that whether Obasanjo supports him or not, he would sail through in his politics, especially now, that he is aspiring to be the candidate of the opposition PDP for the 2019 presidential election.
Atiku is a quintessential politician, which believes in an entrenched democracy.
And it is because of this, that he fought the former president, when he attempted to elongate his tenure in the famous third term agenda.
That was the crux of the matter between Obasanjo and Atiku.
Supporting Atiku by Obasanjo would not increase his popularity and not supporting him by the same person cannot change his perception by those who are behind his aspiration.
The man known as Atiku Abubakar, is somebody with a large heart that accommodate all and sundry.
He is very friendly with the low and mighty on the political turf.
It is worth mentioning that he and Titi Ajanaku were the people, who visited Obasanjo and conscripted him to join the formidable political structure called the Peoples Democratic Party to vie for the presidency after his release from the Yola Prison.
During their first tenure, Atiku was the wheel behind the success of the Obasanjo administration, especially the privatisation programme.
It is imperative to stress the point, that Obasanjo cannot be a stumbling block to the aspiration of Atiku in whatever ramification because he is a shrewd politician, which was accepted in all parts of the country. Atiku has therefore reached a stage in his political career that somebody like Obasanjo can boast that he made Atiku what he is today. Rather it is Atiku that can claim credit for making Obasanjo President 1999.
What Atiku has done in the life of Obasanjo is immeasurable.
The main reason why Obasanjo finds it hard to believe in Atiku’s presidential aspiration is that in 2003 because of his desperation for second and sensing that the governors then were solidly behind Atiku to vie for the presidency begged him.
But truly as a democrat, Atiku had to convince the governors to allow Obasanjo to continue for the second term.
Since then, Obasanjo took offence with Atikur.
But whether he likes it or not, the man Atiku Abubakar has played a great role in the political sojourn of Obasanjo.
It is imperative to allude to the fact, that Obasanjo cannot determine the fate of Atiku in his political career because as a man of inestimable credential, he has already touched the lives of many and built bridges across the country.
The people of this country are the ones that can say no to the political aspiration of Atiku Abubakar.
