2019: Buhari enjoys Talakawa’s support – Senator

All Progressives Congress (APC) frontline governorship aspirant in Oyo state and chairman, Senate Committee on ICT and Cybercrimes, Senator Abdulfatai Buhari has said that President Muhammadu Buhari will still win the 2019 presidential election despite the defection of some party big- wigs.
The senator, representing Oyo north senatorial district stated this in Ibadan while speaking with journalists on the unfolding political scenarios in the country.
Senator Buhari maintained that despite the recent defection of some National Assembly members and some APC stalwarts, nothing will stop President Muhammadu Buhari from winning next year’s presidential election in Nigeria.
According to Senator Buhari, the President is still enjoying solid support in the north where majority of his votes came from in the last general elections.
According to him, the president is still enjoying the massive support of the Talakawas in the North.
“President Muhammadu Buhari is going to win the 2019 Presidential election.
The votes of millions of the Talakawas in the North that voted for him in 2014 are still much intact.
He has the votes intact,” he said.
The APC governorship hopeful maintained that in Nigeria politics, since the inception of this democracy, defection of politicians at a period like this when the next general elections are fast approaching is common.
He said the issue of politicians defecting from one party to another should not be seen as a major issue considering the fact that the major motive behind it is political survival of those involved.
Besides, he said it is also a fact that President Buhari maintained his credibility till date as he is yet to be fund wanting on any corruption issue.
According to Senator Buhari, so far in the present political dispensation in the country, it is only the President Buhari led administration that has implemented the Nigeria budget more than 78percent as witnessed in the 2017/2018 budget.
On his governorship ambition in Oyo state, Senator Buhari maintained that as far as the contest was concerned, he remains the only aspirant to beat in terms of performance, experience, academic qualifications and acceptability across Oyo state.
