2019: Disloyalty to Buhari by APC lawmakers unacceptable – Adamu

Federal lawmakers elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are by the principle of party supremacy supposed to be loyal to President Muhammadu Buhari and not antagonise him, Abdullahi Adamu has said.

Senator, who represents Nasarawa West, made the observation at a gathering of APC stalwarts in Keffi , Nasarawa state yesterday where the Nasarawa chapter of the party adopted President Buhari for another term, saying there is no alternative to him in 2019.

According to Adamu, staying within the APC to form opposition to the government of the president is unacceptable, and urged those who are not comfortable with Buhari and his bid for another term to either join the train or leave the party quietly.

He said he remained adamant in his support for Buhari, insisting that he had no regrets supporting the president for a second term in office. He stated that his support was part of his commitment and loyalty to the APC and the president who as the leader of the party, must have total support of all faithful party members to succeed.

According to him, the opposition voices to the administration of President Buhari by some APC members, especially in the National Assembly is not good for democracy, saying such level of disloyalty being displayed by some APC members against Buhari is antithetical to democratic growth.

“I am under oath as a member of the distinguished Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and my oath of office compels me to be loyal, to be patriotic in the course of promoting the well-being, existence and unity of Nigeria.

“You don’t want the party for any reason, you feel you are not part of it, get out of it. “They are now cutting the umbilical cord between them and their party, between them and their constituencies. We do not want to be counted among them,” he said
