2019: Ekweremadu endorsed for Enugu West senatorial seat




An based pressure group known as ‘Enugu di n’akachukwu movement (Enugu is in the hands of God movement) has described Senator Ike Ekweremadu, the deputy Senate President, among other senatorial aspirants, as the best and better qualified for the office, adding that he is “a brilliant tactician who has remarkable degrees of humility to serve his people.” The leader of the group, Bibian Ebere Anekwe who hails from Eke in Udi local government area of made this known while addressing newsmen in Enugu.
He urged every other politician from Enugu west senatorial district, irrespective of party of affiliation, nursing theambition to replace Senator Ekweremadu in 2019 to seek other elective positions.
“Ekweremadu is a fighter for good causes.
Igbo community has been marginalized and it is only Ekweremadu that can draw us out of the valley.
More so, he is known for his outspoken nature and fearless comments against policies which he deems unfit for his people,” she said.
According to Anekwe, “asking Ekweremadu to withdraw, resign or retire from his senatorial seat because of his years of service implies relinquishing his onerous task of national Legislative duties and will tantamount to a set back for Enugu West, , South East and the nation at large.” She said that some American experienced senators like Ekweremadu have stayed more that 48 years in the parliament out of integrity and selfless service to their constituency, state and nation, pointing out that there is nothing wrong if Ekweremadu returns a fifth time to the Red.Chambers.
She also said that she would embark on public enlightenment of Enugu west senatorial zone to educate the grassroots on the implication of replacing Ekweremadu with an inexperienced candidate.
“Ekweremadu, as an experienced legislator who knows the bolts and nuts of legislative arm of government, a leading figure in the struggle for the restoration of democracy in Nigeria, should be given another opportunity to be re-elected as a senator,” she said
