The people of Ezza clan under the aegis of Concerned Ezza-Ezekuna Stakeholders have vowed not to support the re-election of the candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Ebonyi Central Senatorial zone, Senator Obinna Ogba over his alleged attacks and campaigns of calumny against the people of Ezza nation.
In a statement signed by the president of the group, Mr Osita Nworu, the people said they can’t fold their hands and allow the collective integrity of Ezza clan to be destroyed and sacrificed on the altar of political warfare.
The group alleged that at many fora, the PDP Senatorial candidate had boasted that he would win his second term election with or without the help of the Ezza people.
Describing the utterances as insulting to their great son and Ezza clan in general, the group stressed that Ezza people would not vote for Ogba for allegedly insinuating that he has the “magic to hoodwink the most populous clan”.
They said: “we can no longer endure the barrage of attacks and campaigns of calumny against the people of Ezza nation. We can’t fold our hands and allow the collective integrity of Ezza clan murdered and sacrificed on the altar of petty political warfare”.
“It has become our common knowledge that instead of issue based campaigns, the Senator representing Ebonyi Central zone, Senator Obinna Ogba has been going about castigating our leaders and great personalities of Ezza nation in a bid to coarse victory to his second term bid.
However, the group challenged Senator Ogba to mention what he has done for Ezza nation and also to publish the names of Ezzamgbo people whom he has been claiming that he gave job to have warranted his alleged outrage that he can pocket Ezza people in his ambition.
In his reaction, Senator Ogba described the allegation as ‘thrash’, stressing: “election cannot be won through “propaganda and blackmail”.
Senator Ogba maintained that he never made any negative utterance against the people of Ezza.
He accused the opposition APC in the state for sponsoring such malicious allegations to incite him against his good friends and lovers from the clan.
Ogba noted that his projects are scattered all over the four local government areas of the zone, adding that majority of the beneficiaries of his empowerment came from the clan.
