2019 hajj: NAHCON allocates 1, 575 seats to Taraba

Executive Secretary, Taraba state Muslims Pilgrim Welfare Board,  Umar Adamu Leme Monday said the National Hajj Commission (NAHCON) has allocated 1,575  seats to intending pilgrims in the state for the 2019 hajj operation in Saudi Arabia.

Leme, who stated this in Jalingo while briefing newsmen said with the support of Governor Darius Ishaku, the board has visited Saudi Arabia twice to secure decent accommodation to intending pilgrims from the state.

“We have visited Saudi Arabia twice, and during our visit, we were able to secure decent accommodation for our intending pilgrims close to the Prophet Mosque. We were able to negotiate for their feeding arrangement and transportation with our contractor through the National Hajj Commission,” he said.

He noted that intending pilgrims from the state had this year made it a point of duty  to pray for  peace in Taraba and the country at large.

“We will pray for peace in Taraba and Nigeria. We will also pray for the security challenges that the country is facing at the moment,” he said.

He informed that the number of those indicating interest for this year’s hajj operation is far lesser than those of the previous years.

“This year, people are not really interested in the hajj operation because of the economic and security challenges in the country,” he said.
