2019: ‘Kwankwaso can’t be president’

Kano State Commissioner for Rural Development, Honourable Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso, has dismissed the aspiration of former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to contest for the presidency in 2019 as a huge joke.
The commissioner, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) said former Governor Kwankwaso lacks the capacity to defeat incumbent President, Muhammadu Buhari.
Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso, who served under the administration of Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau as Commissioner for Rural Development, and is a younger sibling to Senator Rabiu, said claim in the media by the senator does not hold water.
According to him, Senator Kwankwaso knows that he would return to the senate in 2019 and therefore was seeking a clever to avoid humiliating defeat.
“If he seeks to return to the senate he will be woefully defeated at the constituency, that is why he has decided not to contest again but prefer to make noise in Abuja and Kaduna because he cannot even visit Kano today for fear that the masses will embarrass him.
The commissioner is not bothered that he and the former governor though are from the same family have different political philosophy.
“I am solidly behind Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for second term while and I can spend my last kobo to ensure that President Muhammadu Buhari wins a landslide victory in Kano in 2019. In fact, we hope to give the president 5 million votes in the next election”.
According to Musa Iliyasu out of the 36 state governors about 30 are supporting Buhari’s second term bid, “the entire northern electorates are still solidly behind him, 90% of our senators and members of house representatives are still supporting him. Tell me from where will Kwankwaso, Tambuwal or Atiku get their votes to defeat him, if one of them finally secured the PDP ticket or ticket of any political party to run for the presidency?”.
