2019: Participate actively in politics, group tells women

As 2019 draws near, the Ebira Pleasant Women Association (EPWA) has emphasized the need for women to actively participate in the political process at all levels.
President of the Association, Mrs. Nana Abdulrahaman Omade, made the call in Abuja during its monthly general meeting, added that avoiding politics is the bane of gender equality in the country.
Mrs. Omade acknowledged the contribution of woment to nation building, urging them to stop lamenting but rather work hard to take their pride of place by showing their abilities.
According to her, the EPWA is a group of ebira women working harmoniously to promote the core values of the association, which is aimed at women empowerment especially to its members and the less privileged in the society.
She lamented the increasing violence against women and children today, calling on women to ensure they go into politics so they can be part of decision making process.
“Domestic violence has eaten deep into the fabrics of our nation and the numbers of victims increases by the day.
When we have more women at the decision making levels it will give more voices to the demands of women at the leadership level.
“Our mission is to liberate women from domestic slavery, gender discrimination, and encouraged young women on the need for their active participation in political processes as this is vital to the liberation of women,” she said.
