2019: PDP cautions social media team against provocations

Bauchi state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has cautioned its social media team and supporters to avoid making provocative statements or derogatory posts on social networks against contenders capable of causing disunity and rancour.
The state publicity secretary of the party, Alhaji Yayanuwa Zainabari, gave this advice yesterday during the opening ceremony of a one-day workshop organised by the party for its social media groups on how to use the platforms for campaigns ahead of the 2019 election held at its secretariat.
Zainabari lamented that character assassination against opponents aspiring for same position would not augur well for the party but would cause animosity among the aspirants and their supporters.
He said, in consideration of the significance of the social media as campaign tool, the party deemed it necessary to train its team so that they could make the best use of it ahead of next year election.
Also speaking, a facilitator at the workshop and communication expert, Alhaji Maigari Khanna, advised members of the party to always verify their facts before publishing on social media to avoid misleading their supporters and losing their credibility from the electorate.
The communication expert recommended that, rather than engaging in defamation of character, name calling and blackmail, the party propagandists should discuss about the effects of the policies and actions of the government in power to convince voters.
Responding on behalf of other participants of the training, Musa Zango, thanked the party for organising the training, calling on it to employ a legal adviser that would be guiding the activities of the social media team to avoid flaws
