2019: PDP welcomes defectors, vows to reclaim Ekiti from APC

The Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) has vowed to reclaim the allegedly stolen mandate of the last Ekiti gubernatorial election lost to the All Progressives Congress (APC). It also vowed to win the 2019 general elections. The National Chairman of the Party, Prince Uche Secondus who described the loss as temporary stated this yesterday in Abuja while receiving members of the party who defected to the APC and other political parties at the wake of the governorship election in the state Among those returnees who were received by the party Chairman and accompanied by the majority leader designate in the senate, Senator Biodun Olujimi are: Ambassador Dare Bejide, Dr Siriku Tae Lawal,Former Governor of Ekiti state Chief Bode Ajewole. Chief DiranOmotoso, Otunba Yinka Akerele, Chief Titilayo Oluwatuyi, Chief Segun Akinwumi and a host of others. Prince Secondus who was represented by National Organizing Secretary of the Party, Col Austin Akobundu (rtd) assured that all necessary legal actions were being taken by the party and its governorship candidate, Prof. Kolapo Olusola towards reclaiming the “mandate” which the party believed it won. He commended the aggrieved leaders of the party in the state for their bold step to return to the party a very critical period when there was nothing on ground to share, saying that this showed that they were back home to join forces with others in the party ahead of the 2019 general elections. He charged the returnees to go back to their state and beg others to return home as the PDP of today had been rebranded under a new leadership who would never allow those mistakes of the past which led to their exit. Meanwhile, the leaders of the delegation, Chief Bode Ajewole, Ambassador Dare Bejide,and Dr Sikiru Tai Lawal said they egretted that the party lost the state to the APC in the last governorship election and that they were back to the party for good to rebuild their damaged home ahead of the 2019 general elections. On its part, the senate minority leader designate, Senator Olujimi stated that the returnees decided to come back following series of persuasions , consultations and begging by party leaders from the South west and the national secretariat of the party.
