2019 Presidency: Turaki may declare in Nov – TNG

Transform Nigeria Group (TNG), said all is now set for the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) North Central Zone convention where they hope to persuade the former Minister of Special Duties, Barrister Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, to declare his intention to run for the 2019 presidential primaries.
This was part of resolution of the group’s zonal meeting yesterday in Jos the Plateau State capital.
National Coordinator of the group, Alhaji Idris Zahiri, told said that they had once called on the erstwhile minister to vie for the Presidency, stressing this subsequently call would be a gathering of all members from the North Central States whose main aim would be to persuade him to make formal acceptance.
“We have slated November, 2017 to be the time for the convention and it was agreed that former Special Adviser on peace-building Hon. Barr. Timothy Parlong, will be the chairman of the occasion,” he said.
“It is necessary to formally make him open up, we are expecting him to be at the convention so that he can officially and publicly tell Nigerians that he has accepted to contest for the seat comes 2019,” he said.
He said they would keep on telling Nigerians that ex-minister, Turaki, is fit to run for the Presidency because of his vast experience, determination and diligent personality.
“Turaki’s political experience combines with his administrative experience, while as Minister of special duties and also chairman federal government’s Peace Committee on the North East crisis, among other reasons why we felt the country deserves to have him, as President, that will impact good governance on the people,” he said.
Zahiri, said they will continue to pressurise Turaki, until he accepts to vie for the presidency.
