2019: Zamfara APC picks finance commissioner as consensus candidate

The All Progressive Congress (APC) Zamfara state chapter has endorsed the state Commissioner of Finance, Alhaji Mukhtar Shehu Idris as consensus candidate for the 2019 governorship elections in the state.
Governor Abdulaziz Yari made the disclosure during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Government House, Gusau yesterday with the party executives across the 14 local government areas of the state.
The governor noted that, as a result of consultations with all the relevant stakeholders, the meeting unanimously agreed that the central zone that has never produced governor of the state will produce a candidate for the party.
“After careful consideration and consultations, Alhaji Muktar Shehu Idris was unanimously resolved from the central zone to be the party flag bearer during the upcoming 2019 general elections,” Yari stated.
In his remarks, the state chairman of the APC, Hon Lawal Muhammad Liman Kaura said the party would yesterday commence solidarity visit to the consensus candidate with a view to expressing their total support.
