2020 pilgrimage: NCPC boss inspects Yakubu Gowon airport facilities

The executive secretary, Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Rev. Yakubu Pam, has inspected facilities at the Yakubu Gowon Airport, Jos, in preparation for this year’s general pilgrimage.

According to a press statement issued in Abuja by the Commission’s head of media, Mr. Celestine Toruka, the NCPC boss was conducted round the facilities at the airport by its manager, Mr. Ayinla Olufemi, recently.

“I am quite satisfied with what my eyes have seen. We will no longer travel to Abuja to fly, we will take our pilgrims direct to Israel from this airport,” he said.

Also, speaking at the event, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Danladi Auta, said the Governor Simon Lalong had been driving the process of upgrading the airport and had done a lot of follow up in that regard.

He gave the assurance that the state government would do its best to ensure that the challenges confronting the airport were addressed, despite the paucity of funds, to enable intending pilgrims to be airlifted from the airport.

Earlier speaking, the airport manager disclosed that there were a few challenges at the airport, but that he was delighted that the state government had promised to address them such as the provision of scanning machines.
